- CONNECTED A SCAN TOOL AND PERFORMED A ROAD TEST TO VERIFY CUSTOMER’S CONCERN OF FRONT-END NOISE AND SHAKING WHEN BRAKING. CONFIRMED THE CONDITION AND INSPECTED THE SUSPENSION, BRAKING, AND ENGINE COMPONENTS. FOUND THAT BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS HAVE EXCESSIVE PLAY, CAUSING THE FRONT-END NOISE AND VIBRATION UNDER BRAKING. ALSO FOUND THAT FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS ARE WORN DOWN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THE NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA WAS TRACED TO A WORN SERPENTINE BELT, WHICH SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE TWO FRONT TIRES ALSO SHOW SIGNS OF UNEVEN WEAR AND SHOULD BE REPLACED SOON TO ENSURE SAFE HANDLING AND EVEN TREAD WEAR. CUSTOMER REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE READY BY THE END OF THE DAY, SO WE WILL ADDRESS AS MANY REPAIRS AS POSSIBLE TODAY. ANY REMAINING REPAIRS WILL NEED TO BE COMPLETED AT A FOLLOW-UP VISIT.
- REMOVE AND REPLACE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ON BOTH SIDES. RAISED THE VEHICLE AND REMOVED THE FRONT WHEELS TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. DISCONNECTED THE BALL JOINTS AND MOUNTING HARDWARE SECURING BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS TO THE FRAME AND STEERING KNUCKLES. REMOVED THE WORN CONTROL ARMS AND INSTALLED NEW UNITS, ENSURING ALL BOLTS AND FASTENERS WERE TORQUED TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. AFTER INSTALLATION, VERIFIED PROPER ALIGNMENT OF SUSPENSION COMPONENTS AND PERFORMED A ROAD TEST TO CONFIRM THAT NOISE AND INSTABILITY WERE ELIMINATED. AN ALIGNMENT IS RECOMMENDED AFTER CONTROL ARM REPLACEMENT.
- REMOVE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS REPLACE FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ASSEMBLE BACK TOGETHER
- REMOVE AND REPLACE SERPENTINE BELT. INSPECTED THE BELT ROUTING AND NOTED SIGNS OF WEAR AND CRACKING ON THE EXISTING BELT. RELEASED TENSION FROM THE BELT TENSIONER AND REMOVED THE OLD BELT FROM ALL PULLEYS. INSTALLED A NEW SERPENTINE BELT, FOLLOWING FACTORY ROUTING DIAGRAM, AND ENSURED PROPER TENSION WAS APPLIED. STARTED THE ENGINE AND VERIFIED THAT THE BELT RAN SMOOTHLY WITH NO NOISE OR SLIPPAGE, CONFIRMING PROPER OPERATION.
- PERFORM WHEEL ALIGNMENT TO ADJUST CAMBER, CASTER, AND TOE ANGLES TO MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS. ENSURE PROPER STEERING WHEEL POSITION AND VEHICLE HANDLING. COMPLETE FINAL INSPECTION AND ROAD TEST TO VERIFY ALIGNMENT ACCURACY.
