Services Performed
- Confirmed the customer's complaint and found the engine did not start. Performed a visual inspection of the battery and battery terminals, but found no obvious faults. Used a multi-meter to measure the voltage across the battery terminals and found the measured voltage was within the specified range of 12.4-12.6 volts. Used a battery conductance tester to test the battery and found the battery was able to conduct the specified amount of current, which verified it operated properly. Used the multi-meter to test for battery voltage and ground at the starter motor and found both the specified 12 volts and ground were present. Used the multi-meter to test for voltage at the starter motor solenoid terminal while switching the ignition to the start position, and found 12 volts was present. These test results verified the starter motor was faulty.
- REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE STARTER MOTOR. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. TEST ALL AFFECTED AREAS.
