    • CONFIRMED CUSTOMER’S COMPLAINT REGARDING ROUGH ENGINE OPERATION. CONNECTED A SCAN TOOL AND FOUND CODES: P0202 – INJECTOR CIRCUIT/OPEN – CYLINDER 2 AND P0302 – CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE DETECTED. INSPECTED THE FUEL INJECTOR WIRING AND CONNECTOR AND FOUND NO VISIBLE FAULTS. PERFORMED FUNCTIONAL TESTING OF THE FUEL INJECTOR, WHICH INDICATED IT IS OPERATING NORMALLY. CHECKED FOR PROPER VOLTAGE AND GROUND AT THE CONNECTOR AND BOTH WERE PRESENT. MEASURED RESISTANCE OF THE FUEL INJECTOR; RESULTS WERE INCONCLUSIVE. AT THIS TIME, WE ARE NOT CERTAIN THAT THE INJECTOR IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE, ONLY THAT IT IS A POSSIBLE SUSPECT. PERFORMED A COMPRESSION TEST ON THE ENGINE AND FOUND COMPRESSION TO BE WITHIN SPECIFICATION. HOWEVER, THERE IS STILL A POSSIBILITY OF AN INTERNAL ENGINE ISSUE THAT MAY NOT BE DETECTABLE THROUGH A BASIC COMPRESSION TEST. FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING IS RECOMMENDED TO CONFIRM THE EXACT SOURCE OF THE MISFIRE.

    • REMOVE AND REPLACE THE TAILGATE STRUTS BY FIRST SUPPORTING THE TAILGATE AND REMOVING ANY OBSTRUCTIONS TO GAIN ACCESS. CAREFULLY REMOVE THE WORN OR FAILED STRUTS FROM THEIR MOUNTS, AND INSTALL NEW TAILGATE STRUTS IN THE CORRECT POSITION. ENSURE PROPER ALIGNMENT AND SECURE FASTENERS TO MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS. TEST THE TAILGATE OPERATION TO CONFIRM SMOOTH OPENING AND CLOSING, AND VERIFY THAT THE NEW STRUTS PROVIDE THE PROPER SUPPORT AND STABILITY.

    • Verified the customer’s concern and confirmed that coolant is leaking from the bottom of the engine. Upon inspection, the coolant level was found to be low, so it was topped off to the proper level. A cooling system pressure test was performed by applying pressure to the system. The system failed to retain pressure, confirming an external coolant leak. A detailed inspection revealed that the coolant is leaking from an area beneath the intake manifold. However, the exact source of the leak could not be determined due to limited visibility. In order to properly identify the origin of the leak, the intake manifold must be removed for further inspection. Based on prior experience with this engine type, the most likely cause is a failure of the oil cooler housing, which is a known issue. The exact cause will be confirmed once disassembly is performed and the affected area is fully exposed. Further recommendations will follow once the component has been accessed.
    • REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS TO GAIN FULL ACCESS TO THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. CAREFULLY REMOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD AND RELATED HARDWARE TO EXPOSE THE SOURCE OF THE COOLANT LEAK. AFTER THOROUGH INSPECTION, IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE OIL COOLER HOUSING HAS FAILED AND IS THE SOURCE OF THE COOLANT LEAK. PROCEEDED TO REMOVE THE DAMAGED OIL COOLER HOUSING AND REPLACED IT WITH A NEW UNIT. CLEANED ALL MATING SURFACES, INSTALLED NEW GASKETS AND SEALS WHERE REQUIRED, AND REASSEMBLED ALL COMPONENTS BACK TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. ONCE REASSEMBLY WAS COMPLETE, FILLED THE SYSTEM WITH THE PROPER MIXTURE OF ANTIFREEZE COOLANT AND PURGED ANY AIR FROM THE SYSTEM. FINALIZED THE REPAIR BY TESTING ALL AFFECTED AREAS FOR LEAKS AND VERIFIED PROPER OPERATION OF THE COOLING SYSTEM.

    • Confirmed customer complaint and found that the accelerator is erratic. With the key on, engine off, monitored the live scan tool data and observed the accelerator pedal position sensor parameter was not within the specified range. Inspected the accelerator pedal position sensor wiring harness and connector, but detected no obvious faults. Performed a throttle sweep, monitored the accelerator pedal position sensor signal parameters using the scan tool, and found the accelerator pedal position sensor signal parameters did not maintain the specified correlation as the throttle was swept. These test results verified the accelerator pedal position sensor was faulty. – Customer acknowledged notice and gave oral approval of estimated repairs. REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. TEST ALL AFFECTED AREAS.

    • Connected a scan tool and found code P0301 – Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected. Performed a road test while monitoring live scan tool data and observed the misfire counts increased on cylinder #1. Inspected the ignition system and detected no obvious faults. Connected an inline spark tester to spark plug #1, cranked the engine and found the lamp illuminated brightly. Inspected the fuel injector #1 wiring harness and connector, but found no obvious faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the fuel injector #1 connector and found both were present. Possible carbon build-up on injectors and engine valves. Needs to be cleaned as the first step.

    • Confirmed the customer's concern and observed engine coolant leaked from under the vehicle. Visually inspected the vehicle’s engine coolant level and found it was below the minimum level. Filled the engine coolant to the proper operating level, attached the pressure tester to the engine cooling system, and pressurized the system to check for leaks. The engine cooling system did not retain the applied pressure, which indicated an engine coolant leak was present. Continued to apply pressure to the engine cooling system, inspected the system for signs of an external engine coolant leak, and found the heater hose connector and thermostat housing had leaked.
    • REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE HEATER HOSE CONNECTOR AND THERMOSTAT HOUSING. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKEA LL NECESSARY ADJSUTMENTS.
