    • Connected a scan tool and found code P0455 – Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Large Leak). Performed a visual inspection of the evaporative emission (EVAP) system to check for any signs of damage, but found no obvious faults. Connected a smoke machine to the EVAP system test port and induced smoke into the EVAP system to check for leaks. Used the scan tool to command the EVAP purge solenoid valve and the EVAP canister vent solenoid closed for the smoke test and found no signs of smoke, which indicated no external leaks were present. Continued to inspect the EVAP system by removing the vacuum source hose from the EVAP purge solenoid valve and observed smoke emitted from the EVAP purge solenoid valve, which indicated it leaked. Attached a vacuum pump to the EVAP purge solenoid valve and tested the valve by applying vacuum. The EVAP purge solenoid valve leaked and did not retain the applied vacuum. The results of these tests verified the EVAP purge solenoid valve was faulty. REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE PURGE VALVE. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. TEST ALL AFFECTED AREAS.

    • Observed the engine coolant temperature gauge and found the engine coolant temperature exceeded allowable specifications. Filled the engine coolant to the proper operating level, attached a pressure tester to the engine cooling system, and pressurized the system to check for leaks. The engine cooling system did not retain the applied pressure, which indicated an engine coolant leak was present. Continued to apply pressure to the engine cooling system, inspected the system for signs of an external engine coolant leak and found the engine coolant hose had leaked. Coolant hose is underneath intake manifold and it needs to be removed in order to replace it.
    • REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE COOLANT BYPASS HOSE. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. ADD ANTI-FREEZE COOLANT.
