Services Performed
- Connected a scan tool and found code P0303 – Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected. Used the scan tool to monitor the live data with the engine at idle and found the misfire counts for cylinder #3 increased. Inspected the ignition system and the air intake system, but found no concerns. Inspected the ignition coil #3 wiring harness and connector, but found no concerns. With the key on, engine off, used a multi-meter to check for voltage and ground at the ignition coil #3 connector and found both were present. Used the multi-meter to measure the resistance of ignition coil #3 and found the measured resistance was not within specifications. These test results verified ignition coil #3 was faulty. Removed the spark plugs for inspection and found the spark plugs had excessive wear.
- REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE SPARK PLUG AND CYLINDER NUMBER 3 IGNITION COIL. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. TEST ALL AFFECTED AREAS AND RESET ECU.
