- Confirmed the customer's complaint and found the engine did not start. Used a multi-meter to check the battery state of charge and found the measured battery voltage was below specifications. Used a battery charger to charge the battery and used a battery conductance tester to test the battery. The battery was able to conduct the specified amount of current, which indicated the battery operated properly. Used the multi-meter to monitor the charging system voltage with the engine at idle and found the charging system voltage was below specifications. These test results verified the alternator was faulty.
- REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE ALTERNATOR. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. TEST ALL AFFECTED AREAS.
