- Connected a scan tool and found code P0128 – Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature). Inspected the engine coolant level and condition, but found no faults. Ran the engine and used an infrared thermometer to measure the engine coolant temperature at the engine coolant thermostat housing inlet and outlet. The measured temperatures at the engine coolant thermostat housing inlet and outlet were identical but below the specified operating temperature, which indicated the engine coolant thermostat had opened. Based on these results the thermostat is stuck in the open position.
- REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. DRAIN COOLANT. REMOVE AND REPLACE THERMOSTAT HOUSING W/ THERMOSTAT AND WATER TEMP. SENSOR. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. ADD ANTI-FREEZE COOLANT.
