- Connected a scan tool and found code P0456 – Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak). Performed an inspection of the evaporative emission (EVAP) system and detected no obvious faults. Using the scan tool, attempted to seal the EVAP system and found the EVAP canister vent solenoid did not respond. Inspected the EVAP canister vent solenoid wiring harness and connector, but detected no obvious faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the EVAP canister vent solenoid connector and found both were present. Using the multi-meter, checked for continuity of the EVAP canister vent solenoid and found continuity was not present, indicating the EVAP canister vent solenoid was faulty. Using the scan tool, attempted to seal the EVAP system and found the EVAP purge solenoid valve did not respond. Inspected the EVAP purge solenoid valve wiring harness and connector and detected no obvious faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the EVAP purge solenoid valve connector and found both were present. Using the multi-meter, checked for continuity of the EVAP purge solenoid valve and found continuity was not present, indicating the EVAP purge solenoid valve was faulty.
- REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE PURGE SOLENOID VALVE. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS.
- REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE CANISTER VENT VALVE. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS.
