Services Performed
- Confirmed the customer's complaint and found the battery light was on. Performed a visual inspection of the battery cables and connections, but found no obvious faults. Used a multi-meter to measure the voltage across the battery terminals, and found the measured voltage was below specifications. Connected a battery charger, and charged the battery. Started the engine, used an alternator load tester to perform an alternator load test, and found the alternator failed the load test. Performed a visual inspection of the alternator wiring harness and connector terminals, but found no obvious faults. Used the multi-meter to check for battery voltage and ignition voltage at the alternator connectors, and found both were present. The results of these tests indicated the alternator was faulty.
- REMOVE AND REPLACE ALTERNATOR. MAKE SURE ALL WIRES ARE INSERTED INTO PROPER CAVITIES. RE-ASSEMBLE BACK TOGETHER. CONNECT BATTERY. MAKE SURE ALL OTHER WIRES ARE HARNESSED PROPERLY. TEST ALL AFFECTED SYSTEM.
