- Confirmed the customer's complaint and heard a humming noise from the vehicle. Observed the humming noise became louder as the vehicle speed was increased. During the road test, performed gradual left and right turns to isolate the humming noise, and found the humming noise was more intense when turning. Raised the vehicle on a lift, and inspected the tires and brakes for signs of abnormal wear, but found no faults. Grasped the wheel, moved the wheel horizontally and vertically, and found the front right wheel bearing had excessive radial play. The results of these tests verified the wheel bearing was faulty.
- REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE. REMOVE THE KNUCKLE ASSEMBLY TO ALLOW SEPARATION OF THE WHEEL HUB FROM THE WHEEL BEARING. PRESS THE NEW WHEEL BEARING INTO THE WHEEL HUB AND REASSEMBLE ALL COMPONENTS. PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING THIS REPAIR, THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT RUST BUILDUP, WHICH MADE COMPONENT REMOVAL CHALLENGING AND RESULTED IN THE JOB TAKING LONGER THAN EXPECTED.
