Connected a spark tester to the spark plug wire, cranked the engine and found the lamp illuminated brightly. Inspected the fuel injector wiring harness and connector and detected no obvious faults. Connected a test lamp to the fuel injector connector, cranked the engine and found the lamp did not illuminate. Using a multi-meter, checked for the presence of voltage and ground at the fuel injector connector while cranking the engine and found ground pulses were not present. Using the multi-meter, measured the resistance of the fuel injector ground circuit and found the resistance was within the specified range. Inspected the engine control module wiring harness and connector and detected no obvious faults. Using the multi-meter, checked for the presence of ground pulses at the fuel injector ground circuit of the engine control module while cranking the engine and found ground pulses were not present. With the ignition on and the engine off, used the multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the engine control module connector and found both were present. The results of these tests verified the powertrain control module was faulty.
