Connected a scan tool and found code P0522 – Engine Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch Low. Performed an inspection of the engine oil level and condition and found it was at the proper level and clean. Performed a visual inspection of the engine oil pressure sensor wiring harness and found evidence of engine oil on the wiring harness was present. Disconnected the engine oil pressure sensor wiring harness connector, visually inspected the connector and terminals and found evidence of engine oil. Further inspection of the engine oil pressure sensor showed sign of engine oil inside the engine oil pressure sensor connector. Key on, used a fused jumper wire and tapped ground at the engine oil pressure sensor sense circuit in the engine oil pressure sensor harness connector and observed the oil pressure indicator changed, which indicated no circuit faults were present. Removed the engine oil pressure sensor, installed an oil pressure gauge, started the engine and performed an oil pressure test. Found the measured engine oil pressure was within the manufacturer’s specification. The results of these tests verified the engine oil pressure sensor was faulty. REMOVE AND REPLACE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. TEST ALL AFFECTED AREAS.
