Confirmed the customer's complaint and found the engine ran rough. Performed a visual inspection of the engine bay and found no apparent damage. Connected a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and found the fuel pressure was within the specifications. Connected a smoke machine, introduced smoke into the intake system to check for vacuum leaks, and found no vacuum leaks were present. Removed a spark plug wire, connected a spark tester, and found spark was present. Removed the spark plugs and found the spark plug electrodes were worn excessively and the gaps exceeded specifications.
REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE SPARK PLUGS. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS. TEST ALL AFFECTED AREAS.

Connected a scan tool and found code P0456 – Evaporative Emission System Leak Detected (Very Small Leak). Performed an inspection of the evaporative emission (EVAP) system and detected no obvious faults. Using the scan tool, attempted to seal the EVAP system and found the EVAP canister vent solenoid did not respond. Inspected the EVAP canister vent solenoid wiring harness and connector, but detected no obvious faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the EVAP canister vent solenoid connector and found both were present. Using the multi-meter, checked for continuity of the EVAP canister vent solenoid and found continuity was not present, indicating the EVAP canister vent solenoid was faulty. Using the scan tool, attempted to seal the EVAP system and found the EVAP purge solenoid valve did not respond. Inspected the EVAP purge solenoid valve wiring harness and connector and detected no obvious faults. With the ignition on and the engine off, used a multi-meter to check for the presence of voltage and ground at the EVAP purge solenoid valve connector and found both were present. Using the multi-meter, checked for continuity of the EVAP purge solenoid valve and found continuity was not present, indicating the EVAP purge solenoid valve was faulty.
REMOVE ALL NECESSARY COMPONENTS. REMOVE AND REPLACE PURGE SOLENOID VALVE. ASSEMBLE TOGETHER AND MAKE ALL NECESSARY ADJUSTMENTS.
